Katie Groshong is a Nashville based Actor, Producer, Artist, Writer and Singer. Originally from the small town of Wellsville, Kansas, where she started singing and performing live at the age of 4. She then came to Nashville out of high school to pursue her music career at Belmont University’s School of Music. Due to vocal polyps, and wanting to avoid surgery, she then discovered her love for acting and switched gears.
In 2001, director, Jeff Wedding saw, auditioned and cast her in a supporting role in his first feature film, Blind. Since then, she has worked and lived in LA for 5 years, a year in Austin and then in 2007 moved back to Nashville to start her film production company, GypsyRoot Productions, with Jeff Wedding. Katie is producing GypsyRoot’s third film, American Gothic, in Spring of 2016. Their first film, Gracie: The Diary of a Coma Patient, was shot on Super 8 and won them a Best Cinematography award, multiple best of the fest awards, as well as an original score award, giving them some funds to start their first feature film, A Measure of the Sin. Shot on Super 16, that film went on to win them multiple awards, got national distribution and won Katie the Breakthrough Role award at the Pollygrind Underground Film Festival in Las Vegas.
Katie has also shared screen-time with actors such as Matt Dillon, Angela Basset, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Nick Nolte and Robert Redford, just to name a few. She has been in over 20 films, is a Nissan Training Spokesperson, starred in multiple music videos, and has also been dabbling in Special Effects and will be working on her 5th film Spring of 2016. In her free time, she loves to paint and work on new project ideas. She is also currently writing a TV pilot and is working on her first children’s books.
